Trans Fat Analysis with 100% Cyanopropyl Column

Analysis of trans fatty acids in food products are very difficult, laborious and required good technical knowledge on GC interpretation. Couple with these, separation of trans fatty acids from the cis isomers or among themselves are confusing and subjective due to availability of the standard reference materials. Most of the GC standard methods recommended 88% cyanopropyl liquid phase coated on the column to increase dipole-dipole interactions to further separated cis against trans fatty acids (eg. HP88, CPSil88 or Rtx2560). MEGA column has came out with special coating technology to use 100% cyanopropyl in order to separate cis and trans fatty acids in just 50m column instead of 100m column recommended by AOCS and AOAC. This has reduce much of the cost to run trans fats since the non-bonding column types are short in lifespan. Please contact ChromStation Sdn. Bhd. to get more technical advices.
