New Ultra Low Bleed 5MS Column from MEGA

GC's Column bleeding is the phenomenon when temperature of the oven heated to a certain temperature limit. Different manufacturers has different coating and bonding technologies to reduce column bleeding and increase operating temperature. High column bleeding in MS detectors increase background noises, thus reduce sensitivity. MEGA 5MS Xil ultra low bleed column is newly launched product that will only start bleeding at 320 deg C oven temperature and the bleed level is lower that most of the common brands in the market. Melamine Analysis with GCMS

Melamine contamination and adulteration alarming the food authorities to monitor raw and processed foods. The reoccurance after 2008's scares on China's milk products might be possible. For commercial and testing labs having difficulty to invest in LCMSMS which is the official method from US FDA, the existing GCMS is another confirmation tool used to analyze melamine in foods. In order to increase the confirmation on the single MS instrument, sample preparation with good cleaning procedure is a must. SPE (solid phase extraction) is an economical alternative in cleaning process. This enhanced even the detection limits on melamine as compared to the US FDA's GCMS methodology.
